National Conference of Artists
Who We
Are
The National
Conference of Artists, Inc. founded in 1959, is a national
organization of African American visual artists, art
educators, art historians, museum personnel, students,
collectors and supporters of the arts. Its purpose is to
preserve, promote and support African American artists
and their works. The Michigan Chapter of the NCA was
founded in 1974. NCA Michigan Chapter networks with
artists throughout the United States, the Americas and
the world. This global view represents the broad
perspective of inclusion in the arts.

NCA programs are supported by the
National Endowment for the Arts, Michigan Council for the
Arts and Cultural Affairs, Detroit Council of the Arts,
Chrysler Corporation Fund, 3M Automotive, Ameritech,
Black United Fund and artists, collectors and other
private contributors.

Mission
The mission of the NCA
is to preserve and support African American Culture
through the visual arts.
Friends
of NCA
Collectors, art
enthusiasts, supporters of the visual arts provide
support for Michigan Chapter programs through
contributions, benefit programs and annual
fundraiser. The Friends are also volunteers and
assist in hosting receptions, tours and special
events.
